It is essential for learners to know and understand the cultural heritage and history of their environment. To foster this knowledge, Life Baker Group of Schools took the learners to the historical towns of Ijoko and Ota towns in Ogun State, Nigeria.
On this educational tour, Life Baker College students, from the Humanities Department, visited the Palace of Olota of Ota, HRM, Oba (Prof) Adeyemi AbdulKabir Obalanlege while the Upper Basic pupils visited the palace of Olu of Ijoko-Lemode, HRH, Oba Solomon Adisa Shokunbi.
The tours were very exciting and educative, as the learners and teachers enjoyed warm welcome and also toured the historical palaces. They learnt a lot about the rich history of the ancient Ota Town and Ijoko Town respectively.
Historical tales of the towns and the rich Yoruba heritage, were regaled to the learners by the chiefs who were present to receive them. The learners gained a lot of knowledge which will contribute to their understanding and appreciation of cultural tourism.
