The Advanced School

A qualification is only useful if somebody abroad recognises it.

The Advanced School exists for one reason: to put a Life Baker student in front of an admissions officer in London, Toronto or Boston holding the same paperwork as every other applicant.

It runs alongside the main secondary programme, so a student moves into advanced study without leaving the community, the staff or the discipline they have had since Basic 1.

How it runs

Small cohorts, examined early.

  • Cambridge-approved centre. The school is approved by Cambridge International Examinations, UK, to prepare and present candidates.
  • Mock discipline. Students sit full papers under examination conditions long before the real thing.
  • Application support. Personal statements, references and deadlines are handled with the student, not left to them.
  • One campus. Boarding, laboratories, the library and the ICT centre are the same ones they have always used.

The senior years

What the last two years actually look like.

Small cohorts, long hours in the library, and papers sat under real examination conditions well before the real thing.

  • Senior students in blazers and boater hats
  • A student working alone in the school library
  • Candidates seated for an examination in the main hall
  • A senior student in Life Baker blazer and tie
  • Reference shelves in the school library
  • A teacher working through a problem at the whiteboard
  • Senior students lined up in uniform
  • Quiet study during prep
