Life Baker requires every student to take at least one of eight entrepreneurship programmes, at no extra cost to parents.
The eight are Catering Craft, Fashion Design, Leather Works, Wood Work, Electrical Installation, Music and Entertainment, Visual Arts and Computer Studies. Each is taught as a craft, with real equipment and real materials, and the work leaves the building.
The reasoning is straightforward. A student who leaves here academically strong and also able to cook commercially, wire a building, cut a pattern or run a studio does not join the queue for a job. In time, they employ the people in it.
The programmes are funded entirely by the school. Millions of naira have gone into the workshops, the tools and the instructors who teach in them.
